• Bazaar International was established in 1985 with the initial goal of exporting Nepalese handicrafts and importing foreign goods. Since 1990, it started focusing solely on the import and distribution of international publications in Nepal and the export of Nepalese publications abroad.
• Bazaar International is one of the general members of DISTRIPRESS, a nonprofit organization based in Zurich-Switzerland. Publishers, distributors and freight forwarders from 97 countries and territories that number 470 countries make up the international organization. Bazaar is geared towards promoting export and import of books, magazines, journals, newspapers and newsletters. The firm is also a member of Nepal Book Sellers and Publishers Association.
• Bazaar International imports over a hundred consumer magazines, represents medical, technical and professional journals as their subscription agent and distributes academic and text books. Now, it commands a market share of 75% of imported magazines in Nepal and 25% of the imported book market. It has an extensive network of magazine distribution.
• Since January 2002, it has also been providing print-on-demand services for over 260 major international newspapers with license from NewspaperDirect, Inc. In the same year, it also started exporting Nepali newspapers and magazines to markets in Southeast Asia and the Gulf countries. It is expanding the market for Nepali press to accommodate the diverse needs of Nepali diaspora.
• For many customers, Bazaar International is known as a point to order hard-to-find books and magazines in Nepal. With its extensive trade contacts, marketing affiliation with publishers and book suppliers, consolidated freight forwarders at major air hubs, it provides fast delivery for regular and hard to find books, business directories, yellow pages, reference materials, year books and catalogues from around the world.
• Bazaar International represents Elsevier Health Sciences, The Economist Newspaper Limited, TIME INC. ASIA, Business- Week, Curtis Circulation Company, CMG International, Worldwide Media Services Inc., DPV-Germany, NMPP/CCEI-France, World Bank Publications Unit, Asian Development Bank etc… as their national distributor in Nepal. It also provides the services of an international subscription agency for medical, technical and professional journals.
• Dhruba Kuwar is the founder proprietor and chief executive of the firm managing a strong and dedicated team of 20 staff. The firm is growing progressively-developing markets and building relationships with important publishers and distributors. It is always on the move for new ideas and products to keep their customers satisfied with new product and services.
• In 2002 Bazaar International was one of the winners of the Asia-wide Newsstand Distributors Rating Program organized by TIME INC. ASIA. In 1997, it also won the Second Runner-Up and Outstanding Performance Award amongst Asia wide distributors' contest organized by Asiaweek Limited, Hong Kong.
• The firm is widely known as a pioneer on door to door delivery of magazine subscription in Nepal. It provides its services to top individuals, businesses, government departments, foreign embassies and the expatriate community, libraries, medical, professional and other educational institutions and NGOs/INGOs. It is providing subscription services to over 2,000 clients in Nepal and abroad.
• Bazaar International has opened a retail sales outlet : The News Kiosk at Thamel, a prime location of Kathmandu. It was inaugurated on 26 May 2005. It caters to the need of local customers by providing wide variety of national/international magazines, newspapers.
